Helse Sør-Øst funding - COVID-19 testing

Helse Sør-Øst invites applications for laboratory testing of SARS-CoV-2, which gives the disease Covid-19, involving both virus detection methods and methods that detect antibodies (serology) produced in response to infection.

This funding is announced for research-based innovation aimed at new diagnostic solutions, including:

  • Alternative solutions for established, PCR-based tests from commercial suppliers, including alternative reagents and methods for both sample extraction of RNA as well as for the PCR-based analysis of SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics                       
  • Serological test methods for detection of antibodies after viral infection
  • Solutions for handling large-scale tests based on the needs outlined above (both methodological and IT-based solutions)

Application process

Assessment of applications received will be carried out over two steps:

  • Internal review of the content of the solution and evaluation against regional and national needs.
  • Final assessment with input from external resources where emphasis is also placed on professional quality and potential for realization.

The assessment processes will be carried out continuously so that it will be possible to release funds without delay. 

Eligibility

The project manager must be employed (in at least 20% position) in a health enterprise / private, non-profit institution in a Helse Sør-Øst project.

Budget

The announcement has a total limit of NOK 5 million.
