The Research Council is seeking to ensure that the results of publicly funded research are made openly accessible. This scheme is time-limited, with a duration of eight years (2015–2022).
About the call for proposals
The STIM-OA scheme covers the cost of publishing articles in “gold” open access journals. The scheme does not cover the cost of publishing fees in subscription-based “hybrid” open access journals.
The STIM-OA scheme replaces all funding of article processing charges as operating costs under individual projects. Article-processing charges are no longer to be included as an operating cost in ordinary project proposals.
The STIM-OA scheme will issue a funding announcement once a year. Only article processing charges from the previous financial year will be covered.
