Three-dimensional structure of P. gingivalis fimbriae (completed)

Fimbriae are essential virulence factors in the major periodontopathogen P. gingivalis, providing attachment to host tissue. The structure of fimbriae may determine to what extent this organism attach to such tissue.

Aim of the study

  • Determine the 3-dimensional structure of the major fimbriae protein from virulent and avirulent P. gingivalis by protein crystallography
