The Department of Biomaterials has succeeded in attracting considerable funding and acknowledgement over the last ten years with a cumulative budget of 15 million Euros. The department has coordinated several EU and nationally founded projects on various type of applications from novel bone grafts, implant surface coatings, debridement strategies for infected implants, dental membranes, degradable metals, biomolecules for improved bone healing, soft tissue grafts and others.

The first ever Biomaterials in Oslo alumni day will be organised on 24th October! the alumni day will kick-start with a lunch at the Department of Biomaterials. The lunch will be followed by a half-day seminar with talks from both the department and the returning alumni.

The alumni seminar will be held in Auditorium 2, IKO.

In a new opinion paper, researchers from the Department and consortium members of the EU-funded BIOMATDB project have delved into the complex world of biocompatibility, shedding light on the challenges and proposing a comprehensive new definition that could revolutionise the field. This research, recently published in 'Trends in Biotechnology', is poised to advance biomaterials science and its applications in medicine and dentistry.
