About Dr. Liliana Liverani

Dr. Liliana Liverani is currently senior researcher at the Institute of Biomaterials, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (Head: Prof. A. R. Boccaccini). Her main research interests are in the field of biomaterials for scaffold fabrication with different techniques, targeting the regeneration of different tissues and organs.

She joined the Institute of Biomaterials in Erlangen in 2015, when she was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. After the end of the project, in 2017, she continued to work at the same institute, being enrolled in the EU project FunGlass as coordinator for the visiting researchers training at FAU.

She received both the Bachelor and Master Degrees in Biomedical Engineering, both cum laude, at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (Rome, Italy) in 2005 and 2007, respectively. Additionally, in 2008 she earned a post-lauream Master degree in “Innovation in Surgery” at the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy). In 2009 she started her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Chitosan-based scaffold for osteochondral tissue engineering: comparison of fabrication and functionalization techniques and scaffolds characterization” in 2012. From 2012 to 2014 she was Postdoc at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (Rome, Italy), being also highly involved in educational activities. Her most recent research involves the development of fibrous structures based on electrospun layers for reproductive tissue regeneration.
