The Malvern Nano ZS zetasizer instrument is especially designed for the study of colloidal systems and it can measure the particle size, zeta potential, electrophoretic mobility and molecular weight.
The particle size, in the nanometer-micrometer range, is measured by using dynamic light scattering whereas the molecular weight determination is based on static light scattering measurements.
The zeta potential and electrophoretic mobility are obtained using electrophoretic light scattering. The equipment includes an additional module designed for the measurement of the zeta potential of planar surfaces.
