Research

Research at the Department of cariology and gerodontology is mainly within the faculty thematic area "Health promotion and preventive activities".

The research covers the following topics:

  • Oral health and treatment needs of 65-year-olds in Oslo (OsloMunn65)
  • Associations between oral health, nutrition and medical conditions in geriatric patients (COOP-II study, CORAL-project)
  • Oral hygiene in nursing homes: barriers for good oral hygiene and randomised controlled clinical studies on the effects of interventions
  • Taste and smell in odontology (CovidOral)
  • Treatment of blood cancers (project with OUS-Rikshospitalet, BrainFlavour)
  • Burning mouth - capsicin formulations for treatment
  • Dry mouth (Understanding salivary gland function)
  • Non-operative treatment of approximal caries lesions behandling av karieslesjoner (master project)
  • Dental erosion
  • Oral malodour

Several of these research projects are established as broad, interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
