Jana continued to PhD trying a new field of gene therapy fighting inflammatory bowel disease in a murine model under guidance of assoc. prof. Roman Gardlík, MD, Dr. Rer. Nat., PhD. at Institute of Molecular Biomedicine at Faculty of Medicine. After a year she returned to neural research, this time focusing on iron deposition in human brain under pathological conditions, mainly neurodegenerative diseases under supervision of assoc. prof. RNDr Martin Kopáni, PhD, at Institute of Medical Physics, Biophysics, Informatics and Telemedicine where she graduated in 2018.

Jana spent 5 years as a post doc at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic at the Department of Tissue Engineering lead by Eva Filová, PhD, where she focused on soft tissue regeneration and joined projects working on osteochondral defects. Thanks to multiple Horizon 2020 projects she visited multiple biotechnological companies across Europe and 2 universities for 22 months.
