Waste from GMOs must be treated as biological waste and considered as hazardous waste. This applies to both solid and liquid waste.
Waste from GMOs in classes 3 and 4 must be inactivated before it is placed in yellow hazardous waste bags.
Inactivation occurs by autoclaving for 1 hour at 121 degrees, alternatively using Virkon 1-3%, or 5% hypochlorite.
